Entrance Testing

The purpose of admissions testing is to make certain that our school's academic program is a good match for applying students, and to help guide course placement for Upper School students. A CHS Online Application and Application Fee must be submitted before admissions tests are scheduled.

If prospective students have taken a standardized test within the past year, please submit a copy to the admissions' office together with school records/transcripts.  In many cases, this will fulfill the requirement and additional testing may not be required. (Please see a partial list of  accepted tests below.)

Kindergarten
After your Kindergartener’s application has been submitted, a private screening will be scheduled called the Kindergarten Readiness Test. It is a “show what you know” 25-minute assessment for all children entering Kindergarten.

Grades One through Twelve - Students applying for these grades will be required to schedule testing through the CHS admissions office once an application is submitted. If a student has completed standardized testing from the alternative testing list below in the last 6 months, the admissions team would be able to review those scores as a replacement for coming in to CHS.
Stanford Achievement Test (Math and Reading Sections)
Otis Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT)
  • OLSAT 8 measures cognitive abilities that relate to a student's academic success in school. By assessing a student's verbal, nonverbal, and quantitative ability, OLSAT 8 provides valuable information to enhance the insights gained from traditional achievement tests.
