Student Government positions are elected by their peers. Through the student government councils, student activities are planned including social gatherings and service opportunities. Students may also bring concerns or requests pertaining to school life to the faculty and administration through the student councils.
The mission of the High School Student Government at CHS is to assist in fostering a positive Christ-honoring tone within the student body using the Biblical model of “love the Lord your God with all your heart,” and “love your neighbor as yourself,” to develop a student community of God first, others second, self third.
The Student Government at CHS exists:
- To provide an opportunity for student leadership abilities to be identified, developed, and utilized.
- For students to participate in the democratic process and to understand each individual’s privilege and responsibility.
- To provide an organized vehicle for the student body to influence and help shape the CHS community.
- To provide an accountable group of student leaders for the purpose of facilitating student activities, social events, and outreach opportunities.
- Officers meet with the Director of Student Life and Operations each Tuesday during lunch. Class Representatives join that meeting every other Tuesday.
- Plan and execute social activities and events for students in grades 9-12.
- Regular and effective communication to students in grades 9-12 regarding Student Government business and activities.
Positions: President, Vice President, Activities Coordinator, Outreach Director/Chaplain, Secretary/Treasurer, Publicity Director, Class Representatives.
- Student Council is open to all students. Meetings are typically held during lunch on Thursdays.
- Plan and execute social activities and events for students in grades 6-8.
- Provide regular communication to students in grades 6-8 regarding Student Government business and activities.
