every few days during the scholarship season (generally
October through March). Some of these are long shots but many
are worth checking out.

Gates Millennium Scholarship
- This scholarship offers a full-ride to students who are African
American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander
American or Hispanic American with 3.3 GPA or higher and meets the
Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria.
Hispanic
student scholarships - a newer scholarship search
site for Hispanic students.
Horace Mann Scholarship
Program - This scholarship is offered for
educators' children with at least a 3.0 GPA and a 23+ ACT or 1000+ SAT.
J.D. Edwards Program in
Computer Science and Management - UNL offers
this program for high-ability students. To be eligible, you must have a
31+ ACT or 1380+ SAT, 3.8 GPA, in top 10% of your class and an interest
in technology and business.
Junior Miss Scholarship
Program - You have to start
this scholarship process early in your junior year.
UNO
Scholarships - If you want to be considered for a

- This is a free scholarship search and financial aid resource. This is
a very comprehensive site that has membership in the National
Association of Financial Aid Administrators, which is a professional
organization that sets the standards for Financial Aid professionals.

- This site breaks scholarships down into categories and then gives you
links to dozens of scholarship opportunities within each category.
Categories include by major, by state, minority scholarships, athletic
scholarships, etc.
Shopko
- The Shopko Scholars Program offers 100- $1,000 scholarships for those
who have demonstrated a commitment to the community and are hardworking.
Walter Scott Jr.
Scholarship - for prospective students to the
Institute of Information Science and Technology and Engineering
Wells Fargo-
CollegeSTEPS Scholarship Program awards 100 scholarships valued at
$1000.
Wired Scholar
- This is a reputable scholarship search program,
some say the best online. It takes 15 - 20 minutes to fill out the
profile, but for a national scholarship search it does the job. (You
must have an email address.)

University
of Utah President's Scholarship - Available for undergraduate
work only. Recipients must take a minimum of 12 credit hours per
semester. Approximately 50 awards, all awards are made after the
February 1 deadline.A total of approximately $20,000 (which includes a
resident tuition waiver plus an additional cash award) for a maximum of
8 semesters or until the student receives a baccalaureate degree,
whichever comes first. Tuition up to and including 18 hours per
semester is covered. This scholarship is available to select resident
high school seniors, who will be entering freshmen and who qualify for
the Honors at Entrance Scholarship. Selection is based on academic
excellence, leadership, and civic activities. Refer to
“Honors at Entrance Scholarship” heading below, for
additional qualification criteria.
University
of Utah Honors at Entrance Scholarship - Seniors of an
accredited Utah high school, public or private, who will be entering
freshmen. Recipients are chosen by University committee. Resident
tuition (fees not included) awarded for a maximum of 8 semesters or
until the student receives a baccalaureate degree, whichever comes
first. Tuition up to and including 18 hours per semester is covered.
Approximately 250 will be awarded.
University
of Utah Merit Scholarship - Resident entering freshmen who
are
National Merit Finalists. Winners are identified by the National Merit
Scholar¬ship Corporation. A minimum of $500 per year for a
maximum of 8 semesters or until the student receives a baccalaureate
degree, whichever comes first. This is a cash stipend awarded in
addition to any tuition waiver the student might receive from the
University of Utah through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
University
of Utah Merit Scholarship with Presidential Honors - Students
who qualify for both the Merit Scholarship and the
President’s Scholarship. The selection criteria are the same
as for the President’s Scholarship. These honors include
funds in addition to any tuition waiver scholarship a student might
receive. The dollar value of the award includes a $750 annual cash
stipend from the University of Utah, and a minimum $500 cash stipend
from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
University
of Utah Top Ten Scholarship- High school seniors graduating
in the top ten percent of their high school graduating class in 2004.
Seniors must be Utah residents and entering the University of Utah Fall
Semester 2004. The approximate amount received will be $1,000.

State University Academic Scholarship - The
academic scholarships are based on the high school cumulative grade
point average and the composite ACT/SAT score (this creates an index

vary, depending on the number of applicants and the average index

Ann Millner Presidential Scholarship - Awarded to new
freshmen
for four years of study at WSU. Four-year (8 semester) waiver of

Founders
Scholarship - Those
students who qualify for this scholarship will be invited to the
Founders Scholarship Competition, where they will compete for the
following: Four-year (8 semester) waiver of in-state tuition In
addition to tuition, winners receive a $500 semester stipend and single
on-campus housing. Must maintain full-time status and a 3.7 cumulative
GPA.
High
Honors/Honors Scholarship - Awarded to new freshmen for
first
year of study at WSU. One-year (2 semester) waiver of full or half
in-state tuition. Scholarship index score determined yearly. Must
maintain full-time status and a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Wildcat
Leadership Scholarship - Awarded to new freshmen students for
their first year at WSU. Based on leadership experiences and community
involvement. One-year (2 semester) waiver of half in-state tuition.
Must maintain full-time status, a 2.5 cumulative GPA and be active in
Student Government/Activities
Wildcat
Activity Scholarships - Awarded to students who participate
in campus activities, including: Athletics, Bowling, Cheerleading,
Debate, Honors, KWCR Radio, Rodeo, Performing Arts, Signpost, Visual
Arts, Science Programs, Hockey, Soccer and Women’s Fastpitch
Softball.
Financial
Need-Based Scholarships - Awarded to students with financial
need. Must submit results from the FAFSA (Free Application of Federal
Student Aid <http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/>) to the
Scholarship Office by March 1 to be considered for need-based
scholarships. Requirements vary per scholarship.
Donor-Sponsored
Special-Condition Scholarships - Awarded to students fitting
very specific criteria. In some instances, verification must be

Scholar Scholarships - Offers

Technology Education Scholarships - Offers
are made to winners selected by the State Office of Education. Awarded

Merit - National
finalists or semifinalists will qualify based on academic credentials.
Winners must notify WSU in writing regarding final National Merit

Distinguished Scholars Program - $60,000 ($15,000 per
academic year). To be eligible, students must
present a minimum G.P.A. of 3.75 in college preparatory subjects* and a
minimum SAT combined score of 1300 or better or an ACT composite score
of 29 or better. This scholarship is renewable for up to four years,
provided the recipient maintains an overall G.P. A. of 3.00 or better.
Trustees'
Scholarship - $44,000 ($11,000 per academic year). To be
eligible, a student must present a minimum SAT combined score of 1200
or better or an ACT composite score of 27 or better, and a minimum
grade point average in college preparatory subjects* of 3.70 or higher.
This scholarship is renewable for up to four years, provided the
recipient maintains an overall G.P.A. of 3.00 or better.
President's
Scholarship - $38,000 ($9,500 per academic year). To be
eligible, a student must present a minimum of a 4.0 G.P.A. in the
college preparatory subjects.*
Tower
Scholarship - $36,000 ($9,000 per academic year). To be
eligible, a student must present a minimum of a 3.5 to 3.99 G.P.A. in
the college preparatory subjects.*
Westminster
Scholarship - $32,000 ($8,000 per academic year). To be
eligible, a student must present a minimum of a 3.0 to 3.49 G.P.A. in
the college preparatory subjects.*
*The
grade point average needed to qualify is calculated by Westminster

Merit Scholarships:
Young
Presbyterian Scholarship - In 2002, as Westminster College
celebrated its 150th anniversary, the Board of Trustees took a serious
look at the question of what it means to be a PC(USA) related college.
As a result, the decision was made to offer up to 150 scholarships,
worth $11,000 annually, to outstanding PC(USA) students and offer them
a way to continue to grow in faith and leadership while on our campus.
The scholarships are given to all PC(USA) congregations, in essence, to
award to a student of their choosing who meets the qualifications of
active membership in a PC(USA) congregation, and exhibits a 3.5 or
higher high school grade point average.
Jerb
Miller Scholarship - Westminster College alumni who are
educators have the opportunity to nominate a deserving student for 100
Jerb Miller Scholarships. The Jerb Miller Scholarships are four-year
$40,000 renewable awards ($10,000 per year). The scholarships are
created in honor of Dr. Jerb Miller, a beloved professor of education
at Westminster from 1968 until his death in 1992.
Westminster
alumni who are in the education field have been asked to identify a
highly qualified high school student who possesses the personal
characteristics that would honor Westminster. Students with a 3.5 or
higher grade point average may select from any of Westminster's 40
majors. Westminster will grant the scholarships upon endorsements of
Westminster alumni educators and formal validation of the students'
credentials.
Activity
Grants - Students with exceptional ability in music
(available
to music majors and minors only), or theater or may receive grants for
their participation in these areas. Interested students should write to
the appropriate academic chairperson to apply for these
grants.

of Eastern Utah:

Academic
Honors and Academic Scholarships - All Academic Honors and
Academic Scholarship
recipients must maintain a 3.000 semester grade point average and
attempt and complete 15 hours per semester.
Presidential
& Trustees - These
recipients are selected from among incoming freshmen who meet the GPA
and ACT criteria listed in the Freshman Scholarship Table and rank
within the top 5 percent of their graduating class. Based on a ranking
of the entire applicant pool, awards of Presidential or Trustees are
given.
The
Presidential award can provide up to a two year award of Full Tuition,
Student Fees, $200 per semester credit toward your student account and
$500 per semester toward an on-campus residence hall.

Trustees award can provide up to a two year award of Full Tuition,
Student Fees, and $500 per semester toward an on-campus residence hall.
Two
Year Tuition & Housing - These
awards are available to incoming freshmen who meet the GPA and ACT
criteria listed in the Freshman Scholarship Table. The award can
provide up to a two year award of Full Tuition and $500 per semester
toward an on-campus residence hall. Housing Scholarships are awarded
according to GPA ranking of those applying.
One
Year Full Tuition - These
awards are available to incoming freshmen and to returning students who
meet the criteria listed in the Freshman and Returning Student
Scholarship Tables. The award will provide one year of Full Tuition.
Utah
Sterling Scholar Scholarships - College
of Eastern Utah recognizes the accomplishments of these students
through two levels of awards. Eastern Utah is the only school in the
state of Utah to recognize all students at the high school level of the
annual Sterling Scholar competitions.
Students
must submit the Scholarship Application and meet the deadline of March
1st for full consideration. Applications received after the deadline of
March 1st will be considered on an individual basis.
High
School Nominees and Runners-up at the State and Region level, who meet
the March 1st deadline and provide the Office of Admissions &
Scholarships with a copy of their certificate or other proof of their
status, are awarded up to two years full tuition.
Winners
at the Region/State level can then claim an additional award of Student
Fees, again having sent proof of their win to the Office of Admissions
& Scholarships and having met the deadline of March 1st.
Leadership
Scholarships - Leadership
Scholarships are awarded to those students who have shown great
leadership in high school, college and the community.
All
Leadership scholarship recipients must maintain a 2.500 semester grade
point average and attempt and complete 15 hours per semester.
Students
interested in applying for Leadership Scholarship use the regular
Scholarship Application and check the Leadership option. Please include
a resume that outlines leadership capacities in which you have served.
A two page essay detailing what you have learned from the leadership
positions you have held is also required.
Returning
students who are elected as Student Officers for the Associated
Students of College of Eastern Utah are also eligible for the awards.
Leadership
scholarships can be awarded for up to one year full tuition.
Ambassador
Scholarships:
The
Ambassador Scholarship program gives students the opportunity to be a
part of the leadership opportunities found in working with the Office
of Admissions & Scholarships in promoting, marketing,
recruiting and public relations events relating to prospective students.
We
are looking for high school seniors who are positive, out-going, enjoy
working with others and being involved. Applicants need to be
organized, dependable, service oriented and have excellent
communication skills.
All
Ambassador scholarship recipients must maintain a 3.000 semester grade
point average and attempt and complete 15 hours per semester.

March 1st, having listed all departments they would like to be
considered for on their application.
Students
are also encouraged to make contact with individual departments and
activity areas to ensure they meet any additional requirements for
consideration. Additional requirements may include auditions, tryouts,
showing of portfolios, letters of recommendation, resumes, essays,
interviews, etc.

Scholarship - recipients are selected based on a cumulative
GPA and ACT/SAT score. Recipients may receive a full, half or partial

Scholarships - are awarded to students with outstanding
leadership ability who have excelled in high school student
governments, club organizations, community services and other
co-curricular activities. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for
scholarship consideration. Leadership scholarships are based on GPA,
ACT/SAT scores and the leadership resume portion of the Scholarship
Application. Recipients may receive a full, half or partial tuition
scholarship for one to four years renewable each year based upon
academic performance. Application deadline is February 1st.
Multi-Cultural
Scholarships - are awarded to multi-cultural students.
Recipients will receive a full, half or partial resident tuition
scholarship for one to four years renewable each year based upon
academic performance. Application deadline is February 1.
Presidential
Ambassador Scholarships - are awarded to outstanding leaders
who attend one of SUU’s Ambassador Weekends and have excelled
in school, community and personal leadership. The Ambassador Weekends
will be held in February and March and are by invitation only.
Recipients will receive some type of financial assistance/scholarship
during the three years they are participating in the program.
Application deadline is February 1. Check the leadership scholarship
option on the Scholarship Application.
Sterling
Scholar Scholarships - are awarded to regional winners and
runners-up if the student has a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher and an
ACT or equivalent SAT of 25 or higher. To be eligible, students must
list that they are a regional sterling scholar and the area they
competed in on the scholarship application and complete an admissions
application to SUU. Utah
Career
Teaching Scholarships - are awarded for four years of study to
deserving Utah high school graduates who are entering the teaching
profession in the state of Utah and who maintain a 2.75 grade point
average. These scholarships provide for payment of tuition and fees.
Interested high school students should contact their principal or
superintendent as needed about the scholarship. Interested transfer or
continuing students may also contact SUU’s Education
