The
men's soccer program at CHS specialize in the development of the body,
mind, and spirit of each student-athlete. Our programs is designed to
enhance the student-athletes performance by improving their
fundamental, mental and physical skills, while creating a positive
image of character and good work ethics.
It is our desire that each student-athlete grow in Christian character,
leadership, sportsmanship, and athletic ability. More importantly,
student-athletes are encouraged to develop an ability to promote Christ
through sports while maintaining a competitive spirit.
Our program focuses on all aspects of physiological development.
Athletes are trained in areas of: injury prevention movements,
weightlifting, flexibility, medicine ball training, plyometrics,
balance speed, nutrition and fundamentals to develop their agility,
quickness, explosive, and strength related to the individual sport. We
believe this creates a confident athlete that is willing to put out a
winning effort.
A WINNING EFFORT
We keep score during games so that the team with the most points at the
end is recognized for its achievement. And, without question, I want
each game to go in the books as a ?"W"? as much as anybody. But winning
has a prominent place in my coaching philosophy only if it is
accompanied by winning effort. A winning effort is more important than
the actual outcome. When we can look back at a game and know we did the
best we possible could, then we know we made a winning effort. That is
all any coach can ask of their players, their assistants, and
themselves.
COACHING
PHILOSOPHY
I
believe that all men are created equal; but, not all men are willing to
put in the effort to be an equal. As a result, I always treat players
fair but not equal. Each player earns their way on this team and is not
given a position just because they are athletic, tall, rich, or
politically tied. Under my guidance, you will either become a team
player or a bench warmer, a man or a mouse, a respected leader or just
another person in the crowd. I wish that all athletes would respond to
the challenge; yet, I know that some will fall short. It is my mission
and passion to develop college bound athletes, leaders, and morally
sound American men. Whatever you become, will depend on your ability to
balance your metal, physical and emotional state. I will just provide
the opportunity for you to succeed.
TO
BE A CRUSADER
To
be a Crusader means that you are a loyal, hard working team player who
takes responsibility for his own actions on an off the court. You are
academically strong, spiritually driven and mentally and emotional
tough. You understand that playing in the game is a privilege that you
earn daily and not a right. A true Crusader believes that any athlete
can make a positive impact on this program if they are willing to put
their heart and soul into the team no matter what their athletic
ability is perceived to be. A Crusader loves the game, shows respect to
his coaches and teammates, and never backs down from a just challenge.
